Norwegian energy storage solar power company

Norwegian hydropower is currently so cheap that power companies do not consider it attractive to build solar power plants in Norway. In recent years, however, companies have started selling or leasing solar systems to private customers and businesses in Norway. Despite the low energy prices, solar power is growing rapidly in Norway.

For example, the collection of solar energy was once regarded as gratuitous – especially in parts of the country that had a surplus of energy. Most homes in Norway are now equipped with smart meters allowing you to harvest solar energy, store it, and even sell it back to energy companies.

The largest energy company operating in Norway is Equinor ASA, which was renamed from Statoil ASA in 2018. The company was created by the merger of Statoil and Norsk Hydro in October 2007. Norway's government is the company's largest shareholder, owning a majority stake of the company.
