In summary, the Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) in 5G is a critical parameter that helps optimize the use of radio resources by dynamically adjusting the modulation and coding schemes based on the quality of the wireless channel. This ensures efficient and reliable communication in a dynamic and rapidly changing wireless environment.
However, an ideal CQI is not always available in the base station because of the transmission delay from the user to the base station. Currently, the 5G network is still under active development, and it is designed to provide a large data rate from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps anywhere and anytime, even in the high-speed mobile environment up to 500km/h.
In addition, due to the feedback delay, CQI estimation errors, and noisy feedback channels, the CQIs available at the transmitter may not be a perfect measure of the channel quality, and their use for resource allocation may result in a huge loss of the system throughput.
We consider the best-M CQIs reporting technique in which each user estimates/observes its channel on all subcarriers and reports the full CQIs values of the best M subcarriers, and an average CQI value for the remaining subcarriers. The value of M may vary from user to user.
