Research and development funding can also lead to advanced and cost-effective energy storage technologies. They must ensure that storage technologies operate efficiently, retaining and releasing energy as efficiently as possible while minimizing losses.
To meet these gaps and maintain a balance between electricity production and demand, energy storage systems (ESSs) are considered to be the most practical and efficient solutions. ESSs are designed to convert and store electrical energy from various sales and recovery needs [, , ].
In 2022, they accounted for 90% of global energy storage-related fundraising deals (China for 46%, the US for 31%, and Europe for 13% respectively), raising USD 2.9 billion, USD 2 billion, and USD 800 million, respectively (Figure
