CTP stands for Cell To Pack, meaning that the cells are directly assembled into the battery pack.
Integrating the battery pack with the vehicle body in design and manufacturing also reduces the number of components, increases production efficiency, lowers costs, and enhances vehicle performance.
The automotive battery pack status, from an automaker's point of view, is reviewed, and near-future expectations and technological advancements are presented. Different parts of the system, including major regulatory standards, are presented, and near-future development activities are mentioned.
However, there are other specifications such as the cooling method, charging and discharging capabilities, power quality, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and more similar requirements that are addressed in this section. The next section is dedicated to the battery pack interfaces toward the vehicle.
The classical structure of a battery pack is inappropriate for aviation. It is not possible to disconnect the battery pack in the case of an extreme fault, and new architectures are required. In addition, the environmental conditions are harsher and packaging may be more challenging.
The battery pack communicates with the vehicle via a communication bus, which can be a CAN bus, a Linbus, or similar buses. A controller unit performs this task and other tasks, such as measurement, diagnostic, and control. A 12 V supply was connected to this controller as the main power supply.
