Alfen has signed an agreement with the Windpark de Plaet plant to install the battery energy storage system (BESS), which the announcement implied will have a power rating of 10MW, i.e. a 2-hour system.
Nikolaus Valerius, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at RWE Generation said: “The inauguration of RWE's first battery for the Netherlands here in Eemshaven marks a significant step in our ongoing commitment to enhance the country's energy infrastructure while growing our green energy storage portfolio.

The company said its integrated solutions include two identical battery subsystems with a total of 56 battery racks, and the subsystems contain two outdoor transformers and two inverters as well as auxiliary equipment. The wind plant has been operational since 2021 and has seven turbines totalling 32.4MW of power.
