Interest in battery-free systems using capacitors and supercapacitors is growing, especially using piezoelectric technology. Energy harvesting has emerged as a promising avenue for addressing the constraints imposed by battery lifespan in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), paving the way for more sustainable and autonomous operations.
Although numerous studies have investigated energy harvesting techniques for wireless sensor networks, there is a lack of comprehensive reviews that systematically synthesize these findings to provide a clear organizational and comprehensive framework in the vast field of energy harvesting techniques and technologies for WSNs.
Jiang Liming and colleagues suggested using ultrasonic-induced wireless energy collecting to power nano-devices and implantable medical systems . Fu Hailing et al. proposed ultrasonic wireless power transfer for embedded condition monitoring devices in civil infrastructure, industrial machinery, and other fields .
Two sustainable resources for powering sensor nodes are transferred energy and renewable energy (Akhtar and Rehmani, 2015).
